Rome 2022: signing the agreement between the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life and the diocese of Rome

The Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life and the diocese of Rome together to organize the World meeting of families, which will take place in Rome in June 2022. This morning, Monday June 24th, in the Hall of Emperors in the Lateran Palace, Cardinal Kevin Joseph Farrell, Prefect of the Vatican Dicastery, and the Cardinal Vicar of Rome Angelo De Donatis, signed an agreement for the organization of the event. The diocese will take care of logistics, communication, hospitality and pastoral awareness.

«My wish is that this extraordinary event not just be a passing moment, that slips away, but that it might be a starting point in order that we might be of greater service to all those families here in Rome that often suffer hardships and difficulties», said Cardinal De Donatis. And the Cardinal continued by stating that these difficulties «are not just of an economic nature, every day we see a cultural fragility, a crisis of values, a lack of identity and of solid roots, as the Holy Father often reminds us».

Cardinal Farrell then made the observation: “I am glad that Rome will be organizing the event”, as he wished for a “greater momentum in pastoral care in the preparation of young couples for marriage” not only during the event itself but already during the preparations.
